On 14 May 2025, The People’s Hearing on Energy Profiteers Part 2- We Can’t See the Sunset brought together communities, activists, and organisations for a powerful day of art, activism, and accountability. Held as a continuation of the 2024 People’s Hearing on Energy Profiteers, the event offered an urgent and creative platform to confront climate injustice and demand a truly just energy transition.
The programme featured powerful witness testimonies of lived experience, an evocative art exhibition, a documentary screening, and the launch of a new zine. This multi-format gathering served as both a reflection on ongoing struggles and a rallying cry for a people-powered energy future.
Participants included grassroots organisations from across the country, including Vukani Environmental Movement (VEM), Khutala Environmental Care Group, Womxndla Community Development, Mining Affected Communities in Action (MACUA), and Sukumani Development Group—each bringing frontline insight, resistance, and hope to the fight for climate justice.
