SABC News and Current Affairs — By Newsbreak Producer Hoossen Ebrahim – Non-profit organisation “Open Secrets” has written to the Finance Minister to investigate their report which found over 42-billion-rand worth of unpaid benefits of pension funds – still under the control of private administrators. The npo aims to expose and build accountability for private sector economic crimes – through research, advocacy and the law. Earlier this week, they lifted the lid on the saga, where thousands of supposedly dormant pension funds were cancelled. However it was found that these funds still had assets and still owed beneficiaries. Michael Marchant has been leading the investigations.
