The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has invited South Africa to resubmit its application for the extradition of the notorious Gupta brothers, but government sources believe there is no longer any chance that the application will succeed.

Emirati Justice Minister Abdullah al Nuaimi stressed in a statement on Friday evening that South African officials were “able to resubmit the extradition request with new and additional documentation”

This came after Justice Minister Ronald Lamola announced on Friday that the country’s extradition application for Atul and Rajesh Gupta had already failed on February 13. However, according to Lamola, government was only informed of this fact on Thursday evening.
